The in-car karaoke function in the Lincoln Nautilus left a strong impression at the recent What'sNew@Lincoln static appreciation event. This marks Lincoln's first vehicle to integrate the "Changba(a Chinese Sing-Along App)" feature, elevating the vehicle’s signature quiet cabin and premium Revel® audio system to new heights. The product development team, responsible for NVH, audio, and in-car infotainment systems, played a pivotal role in this achievement.

The custom-designed microphones were a delightful surprise, offering not only a built-in vocal enhancement filter but also delivering an unexpectedly concert-level experience with a high-end aesthetic. The clever mesh design seamlessly incorporates the Lincoln logo and illuminates with a rainbow of colors in sync with the sound. Its simple, stylish design, combined with dynamic light and sound, perfectly merges technology and artistry.

Their development is credited to a low-profile team that, while not often in the "spotlight", consistently delivers standout features: the FCSD Vehicle Personalization Team who oversees development and delivery of aftersales service vehicle accessories.  In fact, several products showcased at the What's New Lincoln event originated from this team. Their development scope extends beyond traditional automotive accessories, encompassing diverse and personalized cutting-edge applications.

From "Karaoke Powerhouse" to "Shimmering Butterfly Grille"

For the microphone's development, beyond its innovative styling, the team's biggest challenge was achieving high-quality sound performance within the relatively confined space of the car. They needed to avoid feedback issues caused by the microphone being too close to the speakers while also managing decibel differences and high-frequency limitations.

To find the "optimal balance point," engineers repeatedly adjusted technical parameters and conducted numerous vehicle-wide audio tuning tests to finally achieve the concert-level karaoke experience.

Meanwhile, the Lincoln Corsair Mulan Special Edition introduces the " Shimmering Butterfly Grille" for the first time. This feature transforms traditional chrome material into 54 LED beads, creating a shimmering light effect during vehicle unlock and lock, all while retaining the original metallic texture.

Cliff Ruan, the FCSD Vehicle Personalization & Upstream Engineering Manager and project lead, explained, "As a core configuration for this special edition model, it perfectly meets the market's strong demand for personalization and cutting-edge technology, bringing a romantic sense of ceremony to our female users."

To ensure the grille's brilliance in various harsh environments, it underwent a series of rigorous tests, including high-pressure water impact, stone chip impact, high-intensity vibration durability, and electromagnetic interference (EMC) tests. Additionally, the team conducted extended extreme high and low-temperature and high-humidity tests to ensure stable operation in diverse climates.

Classic Rebirth, Radiant Splendor: Illuminated Knight’s Lincoln Star Logo

The first delightful surprise on the Lincoln Navigator First Edition is its Illuminated Knight’s Lincoln Star Logo. Inspired by the classic knight's emblem from the 1956 Lincoln Continental Mark II, it's a beautiful blend of vintage charm and modern sophistication. Its color and texture have undergone multiple refinements and upgrades to achieve its current luster.

"These types of emblems typically use an electroplating process, resulting in a bright silver finish. However, after seeing the official vehicle photos post-launch, our team and the Lincoln China marketing team had in-depth discussions. We felt the Navigator needed a more prestigious, yet understated, effect," explains Josh Zheng, who leads this project. "So, we proposed to the North American team responsible for the Navigator's design and color materials that this Knight's Star Emblem be made in an antique bronze finish."

After several rounds of communication and verification of rendering effects, the idea received unanimous approval.

The team also designed an exclusive knight's pattern puddle lamp for the First Edition. When the car door opens, the unique knight's emblem is instantly projected onto the ground beneath the door, offering owners a distinct sense of honor every time they enter or exit the vehicle.

Flexible Space Solutions: Multifunctional Trunk Dividers and Mat

The split tailgate on this generation of the all-new Lincoln Navigator is another unique new design that has garnered significant attention. Many people, including prominent figures like "Sam Wu(President and CEO, Ford China)" and "Caocao ‘Jonathan Kos-Read’(American Influencer)" at the auto show, couldn't resist sitting on it for photos.

Despite the Navigator's ample space—it can fit 60 cases of Moutai with the third row folded down—Josh and his team explored numerous ways to make this space even more convenient and comfortable, maximizing the benefits of the split tailgate.

As part of the custom package for the First Edition, they designed a cushion that perfectly matches the interior color. Featuring a sophisticated plaid design in a Maillard color palette, it exudes a high-end feel while also passing rigorous tests for odor, flame resistance, and wear resistance. To ensure a more relaxed and comfortable seating posture, engineers even added a backrest to the original design.

Don't underestimate this backrest; with a simple adjustment, it transforms into a small dining table. It's incredibly convenient for camping trips, perfect for brewing tea or enjoying pour-over coffee with family and friends.

It also functions as a storage shelf, making the utilization of vertical space more flexible and efficient. Everything is clearly visible, making it a dream for those who appreciate organization. This "Transformer"-like multifunctional accessory set creates a "luxurious third space" in the cargo area.

Additionally, the all-new Lincoln Navigator First Edition also features a streaming media rearview mirror with integrated dashcam. This integrates parking monitoring, wide-angle rear visibility, and driving recording functions.

From meticulous refinement of design aesthetics to rigorous validation of development feasibility, they don't just sketch on paper. They repeatedly refine in practice, working closely with suppliers to ensure final high-quality delivery. With every innovation and every persistent effort, they embody a spirit of continuous improvement and craftsmanship.
