2025 ForDR Emergency Response Training Session in Guangzhou and Shenzhen

Jun 19, 2025

On June 14 to 15, 2025, the ForDR Emergency Response Training Sessions jointly organized by Ford China and Changan Ford were successfully held at Changan Ford dealerships - Guangzhou Huachi Fuwei and Shenzhen Hengbiao. In collaboration with Blue Sky Rescue(BSR)and Shenzhen Rescue Volunteers Federation, the events attracted approximately 80 local Ford owners and community residents across both cities.

The Guangzhou session was facilitated by Han Xiaoyu from the Blue Sky Rescue Mobile Emergency Handling Team. The training focused on key topics including regional disaster response strategies, essential first aid skills, and vehicle rescue techniques. Given Guangzhou’s vulnerability to typhoons and seasonal urban flooding, the session placed particular emphasis on practical emergency response measures in driving scenarios. Participants were provided with detailed instruction on how to assess water depth during periods of heavy rainfall, enabling them to navigate flooded roads safely and avoid risks such as engine stalling or vehicle entrapment. The training also featured live demonstrations of emergency escape procedures in the case of vehicle submersion, including how to safely break a car window to facilitate evacuation. As part of the vehicle Walkaround Presentation, product specialists from the dealership provided on-site demonstrations of safe driving techniques, further strengthening participants' operational safety awareness. One participant from Guangzhou remarked, “Typhoon season always makes me a little uneasy, but this training gave me practical, easy-to-understand knowledge on how to stay safe. It was extremely helpful and reassuring.”

The Shenzhen session was held on June 15 and was led by Chen Yuan, Deputy Team Leader of the Shenzhen Rescue Volunteers Federation. The training covered a comprehensive range of first aid knowledge and practical skills, including CPR, AED usage, trauma care, and the Heimlich maneuver for choking emergencies. In addition, the session addressed the management of common acute conditions such as heatstroke and animal bites.

Through real-life rescue scenarios and case studies, the instructor delivered detailed explanations and facilitated hands-on practice to ensure participants gained a solid understanding and practical command of these critical life-saving techniques. One participant from the Shenzhen session shared, “I have long admired the work of the Shenzhen Rescue Volunteers Federation. This training has further strengthened my motivation to improve my rescue skills so that I, too, can contribute meaningfully in the future.”

Both training sessions were successfully concluded and received high praise from participants for their comprehensive content and well-organized execution. In alignment with the program’s ongoing objectives, upcoming initiatives will focus on strengthening collaboration between rescue teams and local Ford owners, while creating more opportunities for public participation in disaster preparedness and emergency response volunteer activities.

Following the earlier session in Hefei, the Guangzhou and Shenzhen trainings mark another significant milestone in the implementation of the ForDR. Looking ahead, the program will continue to expand to additional cities, delivering professional training to broader communities. Through these efforts, ForDR aims to further enhance public awareness, improve emergency response capabilities, and contribute meaningfully to the safety and resilience of society.
